Learning Through Building: My First Game Development Project


Recently, I watched a video from Game Maker’s Toolkit where they introduced a new approach to learning game development: “Learn the Basics, Familiarize, and Build.” Inspired by this, I decided to take on the challenge of creating a video game without relying on any tutorials. I chose to replicate Flappy Bird in Unity, and it turned out to be a fun and rewarding experience. Starting from scratch and figuring things out on my own was the real challenge—and the most valuable part of the learning process. It also helped me develop critical skills like searching for solutions and troubleshooting independently. While this project may not seem like a big achievement, I’m proud of it because it was my first attempt at building something without the guidance of tutorials. You can check out the game here:
